It is always a good idea to have extra storage for your DVR recording devices, wither it is a stand alone DVR recorder or a portable recorder. The bigger the memory, the longer length you can record. Most devices record about an hour for every gig. Stand Alone DVR recorder will use a hard drive and portable recorder will use SD cards. There is some portable DVR unit that has a hard drive built into the recorder but those units tend to be bulky. It is also a good idea to have extra SD cards when you’re on the field because you never know what you are going to record and how long it’s going to take.
